Verse of the Day ~ January 31, 2012

Romans 14:7-8 ~ For none of us lives to himself, and no one dies to himself. For if we live, we live to the Lord; and if we died, we die to the Lord. Therefore, whether we live or die, we are the Lord's.

Are you living for the Lord? Those verses just said that we are the Lord's... but do we actually live for Him? Are we willing to die for Him? We're already His because He created us. But we have the choice to live for Him or live for ourselves. Living for the Lord comes with amazing benefits but it also comes with trials. Living for yourself bring no lasting benefits and they're are tons of trials. Which one sounds more appealing? The way I described it we would say living for the Lord, but what do we most often choose? Day in and day out we live for ourselves. We want to do stuff that makes us happy. But we can't live like that. Why? Because if we do we are headed down a path of destruction. A path that leads to eternal seperation from God. Does that sound like a fun place? Of course not! But just because this is what we most often choose does not mean that we're doomed to a path of destruction. God has given us the ability to choose. Don't waste it. So, are you living for the Lord?

Verse of the Day ~ January 30, 2012

James 1:2-4 ~ My brethern, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work that you may be perfect, lacking nothing.
How many times do we get discouraged every day? I mean if you think about there is at least one time a day that we aren't happy. Something didn't go our way and we get upset about it. How many times do we say, "I know this didn't go my way but God has a better plan." Unfortunately, not very often. We get so caught up thinking about ourselves. If something doesn't go our way we feel sorry for ourselves. But trials doesn't just include something not going your way... it includes deaths, sickness, and just hard times in general. But no matter what you're circumstance, count it all joy. God has a perfect plan for you and though it may be hard now, your reward is in heaven. Remember: we aren't to live for ourselves; we are here to further the ministry of Christ and glorify Him. We can't glorify God if we get caught up thinking about how bad our life is right now. God will never give you more than you can handle. Ever. So, no matter what you're going through right now count it ALL joy

Verse of the Day ~ January 27, 2012

Romans 1:16-17 ~ For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek. For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, "The just shall live by faith."

Are you ashamed of God? You probably thought something like, "Of course not!" or "Are you serious?". I am being completely serious. How many times are we ashamed of God? I mean really think about it. I'm rephrase that same question. How many times do we not stand up for God? Does that make more sense? I hope so. Being ashamed of God is the same thing as not standing up for your faith or even denying your faith. How can we be ashamed of someone who saved us? Because we're human. We naturally hate God. We would rather fit in with the people around us than honor God. This sounds really harsh but I think you have to agree with me that's it's true. I think that every person at least once has been ashamed of God. I know the verse says that "I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ" but I wanted to take that a step further. Paul was not ashamed. He dedicated his whole life to serving the Lord. Why can't we do that? We can. We have the power in the strength of God to live for Him and not be ashamed. This is a decision that we have to make. So again I ask you, are you ashamed of God?

Music!

I wrote a new song today:) In case you didn't know I kinda do that a lot... but this is the first one I've actually recorded. It's not that great quality and I'm still working on it so keep that in mind as you watch... don't think I'm an awful piano player because I get a few notes wrong;). I mean I'm kinda writing it as I'm playing... :) Hope you like it:)

Verse of the Day ~ January 26, 2012

Matthew 24:34,36,42-44~ "Assuredly, I say to you, this generation will by no means pass away till all these things take place. But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, but My Father only. Watch therefore, for you do not know what hour your Lord is coming. But know this, that is the master of the house had known what hour the theif would come, he would have watched and not allowed his house to be broken into. Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect."

Are you ready? One thing that kinda has been laid upon my heart recently is faith WITH works. It's true that believing in Christ to be your Savior will save you and get you into heaven, but it's much more than that. You can just think that just because you're saved means you're good and you don't have to do anything else. The Bible says that faith without works is dead. Do you want to have dead faith? I define good works as glorifying God in everything that you do. And that is really, really hard to do. But it's good for us. Why? Because it requires us to exercise our faith in Christ. We can't do it in our own strength. We can't defeat our flesh. We have to overcome our desires. We have to want to glorify Him. We have to be ready. Are you ready?

Verse of the Day ~ January 25, 2012

Romans 3:10-12, 20-25 ~ As it is written: "There is none righteous, no, not one; There is none who understands; There is none who seeks after God. They have all turned aisde; They have together become unprofitable; There is none who does good, no, not one." Therefore by the deeds of the law no flesh will be justified in His sight, for by the law is the knowledge of sin. But now the righteousness of God apart from the law is revealed, being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets, even the righteousness of God, through faith in Jesus Christ, to all and on all who believe. For there is no difference; for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jeus, whom God set forth as a propitiation by His blood, through faith, to demonstrate His righteousness, because in His forbearance God had passed over the sins that were previously commited.

We are all dirty, rotten sinners. The law cannot make us right. Everything we say, think, or do we can't take back. We can deny it but we can never take it back. But just because you can't take it back doesn't mean you can't be forgiven. "...because in His forbearance God had passed over the sins that were previously commited." God completely covers all of our sin. This doesn't mean that we can sin openly because God will cover it for us. All sin has consequences. But God is ready and willing to forgive us every time we sin. All we have to do is ask. We need to constantly strive to be like Christ. We can never become exactly like Christ because we sin. We're imperfect. But Christ is perfect. He never sinned and yet He's the One who already paid the price for our sins. Next time you mess up don't get discouraged. God is always standing with open arms to forgive you. He will never turn you away. I hope that all made sense to y'all:) Have a great day! :)

Verse of the Day ~ January 24,2012

Hebrews 12:1-2 ~ Therefores we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
I think Matthew 19:26 goes along with this passage too... it says, "And Jesus looked at them and said, 'With man this is impossible, But with God all things are possible.'" In our strength we can't run the race with endurance. We couldn't even run the race. But with God all things are possible. We need to daily dedicate our heart and mind to the Lord because we can't do it on our own. God wants to help us but we must ask Him first. Hope y'all have a great day! :)

Verse of the Day ~ January 23, 2012

2 Timothy 3:16-17 ~ All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.

I really don't to say any more after reading this. It's a fact. The Bible is completely true. The Bible is completely inspired. The Bible is completely perfect. Why? Because it was inspired by a true and completely perfect God. Do I need to say anymore? There are many terms to describe God but I think perfect just sums all of them up. He is perfect. Just think about how awesome God is for a minute... I mean every single human that has ever lived has sinned. No one has even been close to being perfect. But God is. God was physically tempted by Satan and still refused to give in and He had much more motivation to give in than we do. Well, I just thought I'd share that with you tonight. I hope that this encouraged you. Have a great night! :)

My Purpose

So, I've had this blog for over a year and I'm just now getting around to doing this... I'm sorry. I should've done this sooner, but honestly I think it's good that I waited. My purpose for writing this post it to tell you guys what the purpose of my blog is. Let me first say that I am very thankful to have this opportunity to blog where people can actually read what I have to say.

So, my purpose for this blog is first to bring glory to God. Yes, it's true that I put updates and stuff about my life on here but that is not my main purpose. I don't want people to read this blog and just see me. I want people to read what I have to say and see God through me. I am realizing more and more that if I'm constantly focusing on God and His Word, everything else will fall into place. There is nothing in this world that is more important than your relationship with God. Unfortunately God is getting pushed out of almost every area. People are more concerned about offending people than they are pleasing God. I will not apologize for writing what I believe in. I will not apologize if someone gets offended because of something that God teaches us in His Word. The Bible is supposed to be and offense to us as humans because we are sinners. We have to overcome that and realize that we are being told that stuff for our own good. I hope you all have a great night:)

A somewhat exciting Saturday night...

We had had a very interesting night last night... turns out it's a smart idea to have your septic tank pumped every three years... just sayin'. We found that out last night about 9 o'clock last night when I was in the shower. It's taken care of now... thankfully:). I had to go over to the nighbor's house and wash my hair but it's a small price to pay I guess... I mean it could've been worse right? And let's go ahead and face it... it's pretty funny;). My poor Daddy had to stay home from church this morning because the Roto-Rooter guy came out this morning. But the problem is solved now so we don't have to worry about it for 3 more years:). So that was the story of our somewhat exciting Saturday night:)

Always Be Glad

You know I am finding that statement to be a very convicting statement. I mean naturally as humans we don't want to be glad and give thanks all the time... especially when we're going through something really hard. But that's no excuse. God doesn't command us to do all those things and then say, "Ok. You have to do this on your own... and you're going to fail." Because we all know we would fail. We can't do anything in our own strength. Philippians 4:4 says, "Rejoice in the LORD always. Again I will say, rejoice!" There is not one place in the Bible that lists exceptions to this rule. That means that there is no excuse for not rejoicing in the Lord. Ever. Every single circumstance God puts you under is for a reason. It's part of God's perfect plan. It's really hard to remember that when you're in the middle on a trial but it's vital. We can't do this on our own. Matthew 19:26 says, "And Jesus looked at them and said, With man this is impossible, But with God all things are possible."

I miss summer....

when we got to catch little fishies with our hands and a net...

Gender Nuetral?

I think this has really gone too far... http://t.co/Fxi4kqOS I mean seriously? "Let the kid be what it wants to be..." Does that sound stupid to anyone else? How about letting the kid be what God wants it to be? I mean if God intended for people to choose gender He would give us the option before we're born don't ya think? There is supposed to be a distinction between gender... not confusion. To be honest this digusts me... but whatever... its their kid they can do with HIM what they want to. I just can't help but feel sorry for him...

Guest Blogger ~ Spencer B.

The following is a prayer request from Spencer.

"I posted this a really long time ago but my friend Michael (who's 13), has something that causes his all his brain neurons to be destroyed over a period of a long time. He is bedridden and slowly is passing away. He can still speak a bit and still understands. Its a tremendous thing to go through as a parent and at 13. So just prayers for spiritual strength for him and that he wont have migraines or seizures, just not any pain. And then spiritual and physical strength for his parents. This is their only child. They are Christians."

So in case you didn't know....

I don't cook.
I dislike everything about golf.
I'm not a big fan of facebook.
I do not have the ability to train my grandparents dog to play soccer.
I love everything about OSU and I hate everything about Michigan.
I am never asking my sister for a band aid again... (see my post on twitter)
I have failed to understand why we park on a driveway and park on a parkway.
I have discovered that a quick way to get all your friends to shutup is to say that your Mom is calling.
I think that blond jokes should be changed to brunette... and then I look at my sister and change my mind...

So, now that you know some absolutely useless information.... have a great day! ;)

How I spend my Saturday:)

in answer to your question no you don't want to know;)

A Real Athlete

For as long as I can remember I've been an athlete. I have been playing soccer for 9 out of my 14 years on earth. It's been a major part of my life for what seems like forever. It's the on place where I can be myself. It's the one of the things I'm good at.

Playing soccer became instinct. Blood, sweat, and tears were no strangers. Hard work, will, and dedication were always in the vocabulary. Injuries were not uncommon. I cannot think of one time I did enjoy the game even a little bit. It was something I loved doing and it soon became one of my main priorities. And that's where I went wrong.

I was willing to sacrifice time and energy, get hurt, work hard, and train for soccer but not anything else. I made soccer a higher priority than my relationship with my family, God, my friends, and school. Subconsciously I was willing to sacrifice more for a sport than anything else. Honestly I didn't care about school that much. I was only focused on one thing: soccer. Even after I got saved I spent more time with my ball than my Bible, more time on the field than in church and that is not something I'm proud of.

I had my priorities all mixed up. I set my priorities by my standards instead of God's. I failed to see that God and soccer go hand in hand. They're not separate. You see, being an athlete takes hard work and dedication. You have to want it more than anything else. You have to be willing to lose. You have to be strong and tough even when you're tired and/or hurt. The same thing is true for a Christian. We're athletes in training to win the best prize of all. But it's not comin' easy. Just like I said before, a true athlete must be willing to go through those things. You have to work hard to earn your spot on the field. Don't think that just because you're on the team that you're fine. Do you wanna just sit on the bench and not help your team out? You have to want that spot and you have to earn it. This isn't little league anymore. Not everybody gets a chance to play. And just because you work hard doesn't mean you're always gonna win. But no matter what you praise God because we are commanded to. It's not always going to be easy but the prize you will receive is greater than anything you will have to go through. You will be rewarded for your faithfulness.

One key thing that all true athletes have is heart. Every ahtlete knows that without heart you're not gonna get anywhere. Talent is nothing without heart. If I've said it once I've said it a thousand times: "I'd rather have someone 100% heart and 0% talent than someone with 100% talent and 0% heart."

As Christians we need to start training to win that prize. We need to stop treating religion like its in it own separate category because its not. Just like I did with soccer we need to have Christ be our main priority and everything else will fall into place. We have to learn to get our priorities straight. I realized that there is way more to life than sports. I am going to put my main focus on what truly matters which is living for Christ.

I'm not saying all this to say that sports are bad. I will continue to play soccer and love every second of it but now in a new perspective. My life does not revolve around soccer anymore... it revolves around Christ.

When I play I need to make sure I'm playing for the right reasons. I need to live in a way that glorifies God and if I can do that on the field then there is reason why I shouldn't but if I can't I have no business being out there. God doesn't tell us to honor HIm when we feel like it or when it's convenient. We are commanded to honor God is all things all the time.

We have to constantly remember that we should not be playing to impress people but to honor God. I promise you no matter how hard it gets the reward will be that much greater and with God on your side all things are possible.

Never think for a second that God doesn't care about sports or school because He does because He cares about you. But He cares mainly about you your heart. And that's where you need to start. A life full of Christ a heart full of joy and a mind full of Christ.

Isn't it pretty??? Ok maybe pretty isn't the right word but it's cool right??? ;)

A Wicked Mind

I am really enjoying my Bible class this semester. I am learning a lot. But what I love about it is that what we're learning applies to real life. We're not just learning this to get a good grade. The following is from my Bible book.

"Every human mind is deceitful and totally messed up. Therefore, when I was born, my mind was completely wrong about all things, but because it was deceitful, I did not know it. My own thinking both lied to me and tricked me into believing it was reliable. Sin had so corrupted our hearts that, though we were doomed and helpless, we did not know it. Romans chapter 3, verses 10-12, leave no doubt:'It is written, There is none that seeketh after God. They are all gone out of the way, they are together become profitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.'"

We need to be constantly reminded that we have wicked minds. We can justify anything we do by our minds. That's why it is vital that we ask  beg God to guide us. We should desire to honor God in all things and we can't do that in our own strength and our own mind.

just some sentences...

So, I'll give you guys just a quick little update about life.
I started school back on Wednesday.
I won't be playing soccer this season because there's no age group at our club for a team.
I'm starting violin on Friday:).
I ran 2.68 miles yesterday.
I just went through and labeled all of my posts, added Jack's other website to my blog list, and posted a picture of my Mom and Dad.
I am ready for summer.
I am still having trouble with my knee.
I have a geography and science test tomorrow.
I wish more people commented on my blog posts.
I wish more people read my blog.
I am praying for Jack.
I have been reading my Bible everyday and the Lord has been showing me amazing things through His Word.
I have learned to trust the Lord's decisions.
I have had to let go people I loved.
I am rejoicing in all things because I have the joy of the Lord.
I am choosing not to be a typical teenager.
I'm wondering if anyone is still reading this................. ;)

Love never fails....

Just so you know...

I've added both of Jack's websites to my blog list. Please go and check them both out. And don't forget to pray for Jack.

So you know that number... the one that athletes have...

Athletes that read this are gonna know exactly what I'm talking about but those who aren't, well, they're probably gonna be confused. An athletes number at first is just simply a number. As time goes by it becomes much more than that. It becomes the number you put after your name when you sign something. It becomes the number that you write on your hand, your notebook, your homework, etc. You see an athlete soon becomes known by his number. It's his identity and he wears it proudly. So next time you see an athlete with his number proudly on him don't just blow it off... now that sounded entirely way out of proportion but you get the point right? It's a really important number.

God's Will

So, on my lunch break I though I'd do a post about something that has been heavy on me heart very recently. Some of may have heard and Jack Jablonksi (hope I spelled that right). He's a 16 year old hockey player who was recently paralyzed as a result of a check in a hockey game. I encourage you to look him up. He has a caring bridge site that can give you more information. With me being athlete this kinda hit home. I don't know what it is but I just have this odd connection with other athletes... anyway... It really got me thinking... I know that God is a very just God and He is beyond fair. I know that we all deserve to be in hell forever but God saved us from that if we accept Him. I know that bad things happen to good people for a reason. I know that if you are in God's will, all things will work together for your good and God's glory. So why did God allow this to happen to Jack? I don't know. Nobody knows. But God does. Jack's story has kinda occupied me for the past few days. I keep wondering why God did this. And then it hit me... to bring glory to Him. If you read Jack's blog you can see just how many people have already been touched by his story. I mean I really don't know anything about this kid or his family or his school but his story has touched me. I know that he's going through a really hard time right now. I don't want to take away from that but what's he's going through right now is part of God's perfect plan for His life. Jeremiah 29:11 says, "For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." As humans we can't see how this is going to work together for good but God can. God will never give us more than we can handle. And even when it seems like we can't give any more Matthew 19:26 says, "And Jesus looked at them and said, 'With man this is impossible, But with God all things are possible'." Remember that God is a just God. He cares for Jack even more than his parents do and He will take care of him. My prayers are with the Jablonksi family and Jack especially.

The Defintion of You

What I'm about to post is copied from my Bible book... These are not my words.

The Defintion of You
"Now define yourself-not merely your identification, but your unique character-your personality. How would your friends and family define you? How does God define you? Your actions define you to some extent. Scripture, however, goes deeper than mere actions; it goes deep into the mind, or the heart. Proverbs 4:23 says that out of the heart "are the issues of life." So do we define ourselves by what we think or what we do? Obviously, thought leads to action. We will not try to separate these processes since the Bible does not. What a man thinks and what a man does are what a man is.  Therefore, what you think and what you do are the definition of you."

Carefully think about what people would define you as. Maybe you could even ask some people to define you. This is a great reminder that we should constantly be thinking about what we think about and what we do. Those things not only affect ourselves, but others also. Don't go through day by day being the same person. Ask God to do a work inside you so great that people will talk about what He did. We can do nothing in our strength but with God all things are possible.

"What you think and what you do determine what you are, and what you are determines the influence you have on the many people around you."

Amazing little blessings...

It never ceases to amaze me how God works. I mean literally everything He does is amazing. He saved our lives by dying for our sins and chooses to bless us just because He can. We can do all the right things but we still don't deserve the many blessings God has given to us. I was reminded of this today. For Christmas, I got a $5 Academy giftcard (which was awesome:)). Today we went shopping so I asked to go by Academy and spend it. Well, typical me couldn't make up my mind so I just let my Mom buy it off of me and use it later. She bought about $44 worth of stuff and was just going to use the giftcard to help pay for it. When the guy rang it all up and scanned the giftcard, he said that the remaining balance on the card was $5.32. Now remember it (supposedly) only had $5 on it. So, after checking with the cashier to be sure, we called the friend that gave it to me and asked how much they paid for it and sure enough they paid five dollars. They called Academy and told them what happened and Academy said it was their mistake and to keep the fifty dollar giftcard. It's amazing how the Lord blesses. Something else I learned through this is that Academy had excellent customer service;). Well, I hope you all have a wonderful day! :)

Verse of the Day ~ 1/2/12

So, instead of trying to do a picture every day this year I'm going to try to do a verse every day (well, every week day).

James 4:17 ~ So whoever knows the right thing to do and fails to do it, for him it is sin.
