One Last Hope

How can you find words to describe something that is outside of our realm of understanding? How can you try to tell someone about something that you can't even fathom? How can you try to explain life and death to a child? How can you explain the horrid wickedness of man and yet still explain the wonderful goodness of God?

Heaven got 20 little angels last week. Actually, heaven got more than that. Kids are dying or getting killed everyday whether we hear about it or not. Innocent people are getting killed for no reason. People are getting sick. People are getting hurt. We are living in very dark world. A world who cries for peace and justice while at the same time pushing the Creator of peace and justice out. We wonder if there is any love in this world but we don't look to the greatest of all Love. How can we expect improvement in our society when we are more concerned in pleasing the Devil than God? God has been merciful to us. We deserve a much worse society than we are living in right now. Every single one of us deserve to go through what those kids did at Sandy Hook Elementary. Well, we actually deserve worse. We are a evil and wicked country. We deserve no hope.

I've painted a pretty ugly picture, haven't I? I'm sorry. The truth hurts. Well, it doesn't stop there. Yes, we all deserve to suffer eternally with no hope but, we don't have to. We have wonderful Hope that is willing to take our hand and guide us through the wicked place we live in. He doesn't promise to keep us from tragedy or hardship but He does promise to lead us through it. He also promises us that it will be over soon and then we will be spending eternity in presence of God. He has offered this gift to many. This gift of hope and assurance and love. Actually, this gift has been offered to every man that's every lived. Unfortunately, many people won't receive it. They all have different reasons. "Maybe God isn't the real Hope." "He never did anything for me." "There is no God." These words break my heart. The fact the all those souls could have this wonderful free gift but they just turn it down. Their hearts are wicked. They've turned away from their very Creator. We've turned away from our Creator. It's hard to imagine yourself being such a wicked and evil person isn't it? I know it was for me. It's hard to fathom how sweet little innocent babies can turn into such evil monsters. It's hard to understand how people can have so much hatred in their hearts. It's hard to understand why people continually get taken away for what seems like no reason at all. But no matter what God allows to happen, it happens for a reason.

What we need is to turn back to God. We all need to get down our knees and beg God to have mercy on us and forgive us for turning our back on Him. You are going to have trials in this life but you don't have to go through them alone. Don't wait another second... you never know what second is going to be your last. Turn to God now. He is the only way.

True Greatness

Have you ever wanted to be something great? Something above normal... something that people will remember. I have a feeling most, if not all, have had this feeling. You've probably tried to think what you could do to make it big... how you could make a difference. Too many people caught up trying to do something to make them great that they forget the greatest thing of all. I hate to burst your bubble but, nothing you can do will make you great. Yes, some people do get temporary greatness on this world but it doesn't last. Their legacy may live on for a while but it will eventually fade away. Greatness isn't doing something... it's being something. Being great doesn't mean that thousands of people worldwide know who you are. Being great isn't about having millions of dollars. It doesn't even necessarily mean that you have to make a difference in people's lives. Being great has nothing to with anything this world has to offer and everything to do with God. The only Person who walked on this earth and never sinned... He died a horrifying death on the cross with literally the weight of the world on His shoulders and didn't complain even once. This is the only perfect picture of true greatness you will ever find. Anyone can become great but not in their own strength. God is the only thing that can make any man great... not because of what man does but because of how awesome our God is.

remind me again why I'm still up?

After being stuffed full of turkey, dressing, casseroles, and cake I thought I finish off the day (and start the next) doing Black Friday shopping. Of course I didn't go anywhere... last I checked I still had common sense... well enough to not go out and get caught up in that crazy mess. For those who love Black Friday shopping, more power to you but for me, I prefer to stay home. I like shopping where I can stay in my pajamas and eat whenever I want... food's a big thing for me. So here I sit with my Mommy... finding good deals and trying to stay awake. Well, she seems to be going strong... I, on the other hand, practically fell asleep laid across the counter. It's so easy to do since I'm all bundled up with house shoes, hoodie, and blankie. I hope you all had an awesome Thanksgiving. I know I certainly did. I also know that my correct grammar and punctuation completely out the window... we'll just chalk that up to that fact that it's almost 1:30 in the morning and I may or may not have had way more to eat than I should have. Well, on that note I shall go help my Mommy finish her shopping and then get off to bed... if I make it that far. Happy Black Friday!

Veteran's Day

Veteran's Day is a very special day for me. It's a day with which we should spend honoring those who have served and are serving. They are the reason we are where are today. They're the reason we have the freedoms we have right now. Most of the time we don't even give them the time of day. They went through so much for people that they have never even met. I think the least we could for them is to take one day a year and just thank them... let them know that we will never forget what they did... what they fought for... Let them know that they have a special place in our hearts. Let them know that have pride as a nation because of what they did. They didn't take their job lightly, so why should we? Take some time out of your day to thank a veteran today. Trust me... you won't regret it.

Because We Have to Remember

As we approach the eleventh anniversary of 9/11, I am reminded of the events that took place on September 11, 2001. But I'm not just reminded of the Twin Towers, the Pentagon, Flight 93. When I think of 9/11 I think of people hanging out of windows trying to decide whether they should fall to their death or go down with the building if fire didn't get them first. I'm reminded of people on Flight 93 doing everything in their power to make sure that their plane crashed before more innocent people could get killed. Now remembering the awful terrorist attacks of 9/11 is all fine and good but if that's the only reason that we remember then we've got it all wrong. It was never about knocking over buildings and crashing planes. We have to remember for those people who were killed. We have to remember for their families. We have to remember for our country.

Somebody has to tell the story. Somebody has to make sure that people remember what happened. And that somebody is you. If we don't, then who will? If not now, when? Remembering isn't just changing your profile picture on Facebook and posting a status saying you remember what happened. We have to take action to make sure that their legacies live on. We have to remember because if not us, who?

Im back! :)

I'm hesitant to say that because I normally only post like every 2 months... which is ridiculous... I mean it only takes a few minutes... oh well. I start school back next week and I can't say that I'm ready for that but I also can't say that I'm dreading it. I always like starting school it's just the continuing I have a problem with. ;) My birthday is exactly 6 days from right now and I am super excited!!! I am actually getting my permit on my birthday! I still have no idea how I managed to get my parents to let me;). I have been very sick this past week but now I am almost completely recovered. I say almost because I'm still coughing a little and because of the fluid built up in my ears I can't hear very well. I started physical therapy for my knee last Tuesday. We are all hoping this will strengthen the muscles around my knee and fix the problem so I won't have to have surgery. I really really really really really don't want to have surgery. :) I have my first belt test in karate on the 18th. I'm excited and nervous at the same time... Well, I guess I'll go and start reading the driver's book... that might be helpful with the test... Bye!

Why not you? Why not now?

Have you ever thought about the direction our country is headed? Really thing about it. Our churches are going liberal. Our government is going communist. Our people are getting more and more immature and frankly stupid. Why? Because there are entirely too many people saying, "Let someone else do that." or, "I'm just a kid." etc. Well I think it's about time that we all stop making excuses for why we can't do something and start making reasons why. Change doesn't happen by someone just talking about a good idea or telling someone what they should be doing. Change starts with an action which causes other actions. For example: Kids used to be expected to do chores, say yes ma'am and yes sir, be respectful, hold the doors for people... now we aren't expected to do anything. We have to rise above all those low expectations and start making a difference. Change always starts with one person. Someone has to have enough nerver to stand up for what they believe in and fight for their faith and their country. People are trying to take away those freedoms that your ancestors fought for. I'm not about to let their sacrifice be in vain. I'm not about to watch people push God out of everything. I'm not about to watch our freedoms being taken away and this country turning into what our founding fathers feared. We have to start standing up for what's right. We were founded as ONE NATION UNDER GOD. So what are you waiting for? We all have a mission in front of us... the question is, who will accept it?

Hey;)

I am almost completely recovered from my concussion. Hopefully pictures from my awesome (and somewhat dangerous) week will be here soon. I forgot to mention that K (one of three most awesome kids on my street) got saved last Sunday. I was sooo excited and she was too! She's only 8 but she's more mature than me at times. Well, maybe that's an overstatement but you get the idea. Then the next night my other neighbor whose 8 and name is Kylie got saved. ( I know it's confusing) It was truly an awesome week!
We got to beat each other up at karate last night with our belts. Haha just kidding... Sensei has us doing some really cool drills with our belts. It was really fun. And I always enjoy doing kata. Summer has been awesome so far. Next week I'll be at camp and I'm sure that will be awesome (assuming I don't get another concussion) Well, on that note, I have floors to clean and laundry to put away so adios!

Well...

Here I am almost a month into summer and I haven't posted anything at all. My summer has been great so far... especially this week. Neighborhood Bible Time has been a blast. I have made many memories... and injuries. Every single person that has been at NBT has at least one bruise I'm sure. Although I took home the gold on Wednesday night... While trying to make it all the way across the tarp on my feet (which was covered in baby shampoo and sprayed by the firefighter) I got half way across and my feet slid out from under me. One concussion later I still don't remember falling but I'm sure I didn't black out or anything. At least I got people to laugh;). Also I gave people a pretty good run for their money by diving over the four foot big ball and landing on my right knee and elbow. Yet again I got the most laughs... ;) It's been an awesome week and it's going to be an awesome summer. Have a great day!

Mission

So, this week at our church we've been having Neighborhood Bible Time at our church. It has been an amazing week. It's been exciting to see people getting saved and getting assurance of their salvation. For me, I enjoyed everything. The preaching has been awesome. In the sermon last night Mr. Tyler talked about taking up your crosses. Notice that crosses is plural. Every person who is saved has taken up the cross of salvation and accepted God's gift to us of eternal life in fellowship with Him. The second cross is the cross os service. Just accepting Christ as your Saviour isn't enough. Yes, it will get you to heaven but we are called to do more. We are called to give Christ our entire heart, our entire mind, our entire life. Everything belongs to God. We are called to serve with everything we have. It's pretty hard to put your heart into something when you're holding onto something... something's holding you back. There are many things that could do this. Drugs, alcohol, friends, magazines, books, tv shows, music, etc. I know from experience that forsaking these things completely is hard but worth it. You see, God doesn't want you to just accept Him as Saviour. His desire is that all people accept Him AND follow Him. We can't tell God, "Ok. Here's my books and my magazines but I'm keeping my tv shows and music." He want's everything... but He already gave everything for us so He doesn't just want it, He deserves it. Following Christ doesn't mean that you can't do anything fun or that you can't ever do anything again. If you follow Christ you will receive more than you have ever been willing to give. Things of this world will not give us true happiness... they will fade away and loose their appeal in just a very short time. God never fades. God never looses His appeal. God is true happiness. Our mission on earth isn't to "Get glory, make money, and die." We have a calling. A calling to follow Christ with everything. No regrets. And trust me, there won't be any. So, who will take up their cross of service? Who will deny themself and follow Christ?

Eyes

As I was playing in the ocean today, I got water in my eyes. Whenever you get salt water in your eyes it burns your eyes  doesn't it? It almost blinds you. I was thinking about why God made our eyes so sensitive and then it hit me. Our eyes are sensitive in more than one way. When we see something it is permanently in our brain. Sometimes when we see something that looks beautiful and fun but it blinds us the dangers that are coming. If you can't see in the ocean you have no idea when the next wave is coming and you don't know when you're going to fall. Be careful what you do with your eyes. They can be deceiving.

Here I sit

Here I sit on my bed in our beach house. Well, the beach house we're renting for the week. It's our seventh day on vacation and I worn myself out with fun. Well, fun and my Dad but they're kind of one and the same. I am looking forward to getting back home although I'm not ready for vacation to end. It will be fun hanging out with friends, doing stuff with church, writing new music, organizing, etc. I am excited for what this summer has to offer. At church we have lots of pontential for new families and kids that will be greatly welcomed. It's all really exciting. I will be working on my music more intently. I will be doing extra work ahead (and behind) on school to make sure my high school years count. I will spending time with God studying His word and seeking His will. I will be organizing my room, the gym, the den, etc. because I'm just so OCD. I will training more significantly and hopefully work on strengthening my knee. I will start running again no matter how bad my knee hurts. I'm gonna get more tan than I already am. I going to spend most of my time outside, at the pool, or on the river... of course with some of my most favorite people. I am looking forward to the rest of my life. This is the first day of the rest of my life and I'm going to make it count. Make it stand out. Make it mine.

Memorial Day Weekend

I'm doing post for Memorial Day early because I don't know if I will have time this weekend.

Why do we celebrate Memorial Day? I mean really think about it. The first thing that comes to my mind is my Daddy and my grandpa. All the people in my family that have served and some even given the ultimate sacrifice. I think of all the soldiers who never came home, and those left to carry on and finish what they started. A soldier's honor is not about who wins the war... it's about how they fought. Bravely, self-lessly, courageously. That is how you earn honor. They fight for our freedom without expecting anything in return. And look at us, praising singers and actors for their great talents. Have any of them ever been willing to die for you? I'm not trying to degrade any of those people or offend them or anything like that... I'm just trying to make a point. Millions of people are dying to meet a certain sing/celebrity but how many people are dying to shake hands and say 'thank you' to a soldier? This is not something that I take lightly... there's enough people doing that already. It's time for us to stand up and honor those who have fallen, honor those who have fought, honor those who have been willing to give their life for you. Don't let that be in vain. Memorials are great but if there's no heart in them, no respect, no gratitude don't do anything at all. They put their heart and life into saving your freedom can't you at least say thanks?

Pray for those who are still fighting... and the families of those who are now resting. God bless America.

Oh well...

Seems like keeping up on my blog isn't my thing so I'm not even gonna say anything about trying to get better;). I don't think I've posted anything about me starting karate or anything like that.... but I did start karate I think about 5 weeks ago. It's awesome:). Not many of my soccer skills carry over though... but fitness is definitely a must. Every Monday night my Dad and I go to cardio combat which is basically just a killer workout for 50 minutes. Every Tuesday and Thursday we have regular karate class. I love all of it (even though I got sick this past Monday;)). I'm still writing songs... more or less. I have some lyrics with no music and some music with no lyrics;).

A few weeks ago you might've noticed my statuses about my Unle Eddie in the hospital. Well, he was very, very close to losing his life but the Lord spared him and he is doing much better now. My grandma stayed with us for about 2 weeks so that was fun. :) But through that whole situation I just saw God working everything out in a way that only He knew would work. No human could've ever had a plan better than that. What a wonderful God we serve who works everything out for our good and His glory.

1 Corinthians 13:11-12 ~ When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child; but when I became a man, I put away childish things. For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I shall know just as I also am known.

And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing.

Verse of the Day ~ May 2, 2012

Colossians 3:22-25 ~ Bondservants, obey in all things your masters according to the flesh, not with eyeservice, as men-pleasers, but in sincerity of heart fearing God. And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ. But he who does wrong will be repaid for what he has done, and there is no partiality.

Apathy

Let me first start off by apologizing for neglecting my blog. Hopefully I'll start getting better. But what I really want to talk about is apathy. I am so sick of the apathy that is literally everywhere. It's in schools, churches, homes, etc. This includes me. Everybody just has this attitude of "I'm going to do what I want no matter what anyone else says." There's no consideration of other people and there's certainly not any consideration for God. We treat our language like it's nothing. I absolutely can't stand how people cuss and think it's cool. We need to start understanding that we were not put on this earth to "get glory, make money, and die." We're here to bring glory to God. And contrary to popular belief, it not suck all the fun out of life. It also doesn't mean that you can't do anything fun. We need to start changing this apathy. This previously unacceptable way that is now acceptable. When people lower their standards to get what they want or do what they want they're actually hurting themselves. So, why don't you let the change start with you? How you dress, talk, who you hang out with, etc. is who you are. Change the status quo... don't just follow the crowd... especially when that means lowering your standards.

Verse of the Day ~ April 30, 2012

Colossians 3:18-19 ~ Wives, submit to your own husbands, as is fitting in the Lord. Husbands, love your wives and do not be bitter towards them.

Thursday, April 26, 2012

Verse of the Day ~ April 26, 2012

Colossians 3:14-15 ~ But above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfection. And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful.

Wednesday, April 25, 2012

Verse of the Day ~ April 25, 2012

Colossians 3:12-13 ~ Therefore, as the elect of God holy and beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering; bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do.

Tuesday, April 24, 2012

Verse of the Day ~ April 24, 2012

Colossians 3:9-11 ~ Do not lie to one another, since you have put off the old man with his deeds, and have put on the new man who is renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created him, where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcised nor uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave nor free, but Christ is all and in all.

Verse of the Day~ April 23, 2012

Colossians 3:8 ~ But now you yourselves are to put off all these: anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy language out of your mouth.

Friday, April 20, 2012

Verse of the Day

Colossians 3:5-7 ~ Therefore put to death your members which are on earth: fornication, uncleanness, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry. Because of these things the wrath of God is coming up the sons of disobedience, in which you yourselves once walked when you lived in them.

Are you willing to put to death those things that are bringing wrath upon you? Those things are what separate us from God. We must strive daily to walk in the Lord and ask His help to do so. Have a great day! :)

Verse of the Day ~ April 18, 2012

Colossians 3:3-4 ~ For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ who is our life appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory.

Verse of the Day ~ April 12, 2012

Psalm 138:4-6 ~ All the kings of the earth shall praise You, O Lord, When they hear the words of Your mouth. Yes, they shall sing of the ways of the Lord, For great is the glory of the Lord. Though the Lord is on high, Yet He regards the lowly; But the proud He knows from afar.

Wednesday, April 11, 2012

Verse of the Day ~ April 11, 2012

Psalm 138:1-3 ~ I will praise You with my whole heart; Before the gods I will sing praises to You. I will worship toward Your holy temple, And praise Your name For Your lovingkindness and Your truth; For You have magnified Your word above all Your name. In the day when I cired out, You answered me, Andmade me bold with strength in my soul.

Friday, April 6, 2012

Verse of the Day ~ April 6, 2012

Ephesians 4:29 ~ Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear.

How much of our speech builds up and gives grace to others? I doesn't even have to be talking bad about someone.... if you use 'questionable' words that doesn't build up or give grace to others. The Bible says that the tongue is sharper than any two-edged sword. Think about how careful you are with a loaded gun... you don't just aim at anyone. You have a certain way you hold it and you don't aim at anyone because that gun could off. Why don't we start treating our tongue like that? Not aiming at anyone. Making sure you're using it correctly so nobody gets hurt. Have a great day! :)

Verse of the Day ~ April 5, 2012

John 3:16 ~ "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life."

I think verse is one of the most over-looked verses in the Bible. Why do I say that? Well, because almost everyone (who goes to church regurarly or grew up in a Christian home) has the verse memorized. We can say it without thinking about it. This verse has the most amazing message in the world and we just say it like it's not big deal. I think we all need start memorizing Scripture but not to the point we miss the message. No matter how well you know something, you still need to be thinking about what the point is. Have a great day!

Verse of the Day ~ April 4, 2012

John 12:25-26 ~ "He who loves his life will lose it, and he who hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life. If anyone serves Me, let him follow Me; and where I am, there My servant will be also. If anyone serves Me, him My Father will honor.

Friday, March 30, 2012

Verse of the Day ~ March 30, 2012

Psalm 105:42-45 ~ For He remembered His holy promise, And Abraham His servant. He brought out His people with joy, His chosen ones with gladness. He gave them the lands of the Gentiles, And they inherited the labor of the nations, That they might observe His statutes And keep His laws. Praise the LORD!

Thursday, March 29, 2012

Verse of the Day ~ March 29, 2012

Psalm 105:37-41 ~ He also brought them out with silver and gold, And there was none feeble among His tribes. Egypt was glad when they departed, For the fear of them had fallen upon them. He spread a cloud for a covering, And fire to give light in the night. The people asked, and He brought quail, And satisfied them with the bread of heaven. He opened the rock, and water gushed out, It ran in the dry places like a river.

Verse of the Day ~ March 28, 2012

Psalm 105:26-36 ~ He sent Moses His servant, And Aaron whom He had chosen. They performed HIs signs among them, And wonders in the land of Ham. He sent darkness, and made it dark; And they did not rebel against His word. He turned their waters into blood,, And killed their fish. Thei land abounded with frogs, Even the chambers of their kings. He spoke, and there came swarms of flies, And lice in all their territory. He gave them hail for rain, And flaming fire in their land. He struck their vines also, and their fig trees, nd splintered the trees of their territory. He spoke, and locusts came, Young locusts without nuber, And ate up all the vegetation in their land. And devoured the fruit of their ground. He also destroyed all the firstborn in their land, The first of all their strength.

A Great Weekend

Well, you might have wondered about my twitter statuses... they wouldn't have made sense unless you knew where I was. But we were in Ohio from Friday to Monday. We had an awesome time:). We went up because our old pastor was retiring. We didn't get up there till about 7 on Friday so we didn't do much then. Saturday was fun. I went with Paul to the church to help the youth group set up for Sunday... that was fun. I saw a ton of people I hadn't seen in years. The girls hadn't changed much... they just got a little taller;). The boys are a different story... The boys that used to be short and annoying are now tall and really cute. ;) Sunday was awesome. My face was sore the whole day because I was smiling literally the whole time we were at church. I still can't get over how big all the kids have gotten... I mean I've obviously gotten taller since I was 9 but I don't notice me as much... since I see myself everyday;). Well, it was back to school today. I can't say I'm excited about school but it wasn't a totaly drag... I don't hate school... at least not all the time;). So, I'm gonna finish watching Biggest Loser and then get my hiney to bed. Goodnight y'all:)

Verse of the Day ~ March 22, 2012

Psalm 105:18-22 ~ They hurt his feet with fetters, He was laid in irons. Until the time that his word came to pass, The word of the LORD tested him. The king sent and released him, The ruler of the people let him go free. He made him lord of his house, And ruler of all his posessions, To bind his princes at his pleasure, And teach his elders wisdom.

"I'm not done with you yet."

Have you ever thought about why you're still here? Why you're where you are? Why you're doing what you're still doing? I mean, really think about your life. Have you ever wondered why God has put you in a situation? Recently I've been wondering why God has put my in certain situations. Why He has allowed certain things to happen that affect me. I've wondered why it doesn't stop. I've wondered why I haven't got a break. Tonight it finally hit me... almost literally. God isn't done with me yet. I've asked Him several times, "why does this keep happening? I can't take it anymore." But He's telling me, "No, Breanna I'm not done with you yet." He's gonna give me the strength I need. Something that has been really convicting to me is that when God was being beaten and spat on and being treated worse than dirt He didn't say, "Ok. That's it. I'm done. I can't do this anymore." He certainly could have, but He didn't. But now think about us. How many times do we say, "Ok. That's it. I'm done. I can't do this anymore."? Honestly, we all do that a lot. Why do we do that? Because we're weak. Why are we weak? Because we're looking for strength that comes from ourselves. We keep lookin' and lookin' and we never find it. You wanna know something? It's really, really hard to find something that isn't there. We have absolutely no strength in us. How dare we try and handle things on our own. How dare we try and play God. And you wanna know the saddest part about it all? We don't even know that we're doing it. We just think that we can do it. We can stand on our own two feet. But we really can't. So, when God says that He's not done with you yet don't say I don't care or I can't do this anymore. When He tells you that He's not done with you yet He doesn't tell you that you have to do it on your own. God never leaves you. He never tells you to do something in your own strength. Y'all remember my favorite verse? Matthew 19:26 says, "...With man this is impossible, But with God all things are possible." Don't get discouraged when it seems like it doesn't let up. You don't get a break. Because God's not done with you yet and He will give you the strength you need.

Verse of the Day ~ March 16, 2012

Psalm 105:7-8 ~ He is the Lord our God; His judgements are in all the earth. He remembers His covenant forever, The word which He commanded, for a thousand generations,

It's Wednesday...

I know it's only 9:30 but I'm literally following alseep. Oh well. Did you guys hear Jack got his halo off today? That pretty much made my day. It's just amazing seeing how strong and joyful he can be. It kinda makes me wonder how I would respond in that situation. But hands down, Jack's a huge role model for kids everywhere.

I crashed my scooter three times today... although, I was sitting down on the scooter 2 out of 3 times. The other time I didn't actually fall... I caught myself. The weather was awesome today. We had a blast outside. I'm sure that will be the same for the rest of the week. Maybe I'll find some people to take pictures of us outside because I know that y'all are dying to see what we do out there;). Idk... it's just an idea. Honestly, my thoughts are kinda all over the place right now because I'm so stinkin' tired. With that I'm just gonna tell y'all goodnight and post something in the morning. Hope y'all have a great night!

Verse of the Day ~ March 13, 2012

If that's not an encouragement to Christians then I don't know what is. Hope it was an encouragement to you too! Have a great day!

Saturday...

Saturday may be my favorite day of the week. Especially now since it's getting warmer. And when Saturdays are warm outside us kids in hood have loads of fun. Today was no exception. Started at 8 a.m. this morning when I woke up and it became very obvious, very quickly I was not going to be able to go back to sleep. So what did I do? What any normal kid would do... (yes, I still consider myself normal even though it's not really true) I went downstairs, threw myself on the couch, covered up with my blankie, and watched The Waltons, Jessie, and Lab Rats. It was fun... although it took me a while to actually be full awake... my sister joined me on the couch about 10 and then our parents got up later... I thought I'd be a good daughter and not wake them up since they NEVER sleep in. ;) After we ate breakfast and got ready I headed outside. I called the nieghbors and they were gonna help me come and paint the swingset only the paint wasn't here yet so we just finished getting the old paint off... or... attempted to at least. It was all fine until my neighbors dog came over. It's just a little pug who doesn't bother us and he she wasn't in the way so we just left her alone for the most part. Well, we did for as long as we could. Then that stinkin' dog decided to entice Roxie (our other neighbors dog) to come under the fence and 'visit'. I wasn't amused. Roxie is still sort of a puppy so she has a ton of energy but she's big... The excitement concluded when I tackled Roxie and my friend picked up the puppy. I then took the pug home and Shane took Roxie home... or tried to. I ended up doing. Turns out a 6-year-old and an 8-year-old can't handle a golden retriever. So, guess who had to carry the dog home? Yep. I did. And that dog was heavy. Oh well... making memories;) Then we painted the swingset. Not much exciting there... although I did have to help Shane get his four-wheeler unstuck. You can see how dirty I got by going on twitter and checking the pic I posted. So that's how my Saturday went. I probably bored you to death with those very descriptive details but you know... I just couldn't resist;). Have a great night y'all!

You better be running...

Every morning in Africa, a Gazelle wakes up. It knows it must run faster than the fastest lion or it will be killed. Every morning a Lion wakes up. It knows it must outrun the slowest Gazelle or it will starve to death. It doesn't matter whether you are a Lion or a Gazelle... when the sun comes up, you'd better be running.

Hello Weekend:D

It seems like I only do posts (besides my Verse of the Day) on weekends. Sorry about that. Verse of the Day ~ February 29, 2012 (Leap Day:D)

Psalm 25:1-3 ~ To You, O LORD, I lift up my soul. O my God, I trust in You; Let me not be ashamed; Let not my enemies triumph over me. Indeed, let no one who waits on You be ashamed; Let those be ashamed who deal treacherously without cause.

Are you ashamed of God? Do you let God take care of your enemies? Do wait on God? We should all answer yes to those questions. But honestly can we all say yes? I doubt it. Especially about the enemies part. When someone does something wrong to us we want to get them back. We don't want just say ok I forgive you. But what does God want us to do? He wants us to do our part (by being nice and forgiving) and let Him do the rest. You don't have to be best friends with your enemies just be nice. Trying "killing them with kindness." Don't be ashamed of our God. He can do great and mighty things. All things happen in His perfect timing so we don't need to worry about it. In conclusion, this is what we learned:
1.Lift up your soul to God.
2.Trust in God.
3.Do not be ashamed.
4.Let God take care of your enemies.

this is what homework does to me...

I am seriously considering whether homework is healthy or not... It creates stress (most of the time) and that's not healthy is it? It also messes with brain. Like the other day while I was doing algebra homework I wrote -0... and today one of the questions on my geography hw was "What are the 4 presidents whose heads are carved on Mount Rushmore?" I wrote, "George Washington, Theodore Roosevelt, Abraham Lincoln, and Thomas Edison." Oh wait... Thomas Edison wasn't a president. See what I mean? But homework is still being forced on all kids ages 4 to 18. Guess it's just a neccessary evil... kinda going to the dentist and getting shots. ;)

Verse of the Day ~ February 24, 2012

Proverbs 23:22-23 ~ Listen to your father who begot you, And do not despise your mother when she is old. Buy the truth, and do not sell it, Also wisdom and instruction and understanding.

I'm going to divide today's post into two sections: Verse 22 and Verse 23.

Verse 22: This is basically saying honor your parents regardless of age. Notice that word REGARDLESS. It means there is NO EXCEPTION. As long as they live they are your parents. Honor is a very broad word. It doesn't mean to simply obey them. How about respect? obey? value? love? trust? Ever thought about putting value on your parents? Well, you should because they're pretty special! I mean they had you didn't they? But seriously there are no exceptions. The Bible doesn't say, "Honor your parents. Oh unless you disagree with them... or if you don't like what they're saying.... or if you think they're being unfair." NO!!!! THAT IS NOT WHAT THE BIBLE SAYS!!!!!!!! It says, and I quote, "Honor your father and mother." See that? No and's, or's, if's, but's. Honor your father and mother. God wasn't kidding around when He commanded us to do this. God makes no mistakes and the Bible is perfectly clear. I mean come on it doesn't take a rocket scientist to read and comprehend "Thou shalt not kill". Right? If I'm wrong I'd sure love for someone to let me know...

Verse 23: So after that you're probably like "Wow... after that I'm kinda concerned about what she's gonna say next..." Don't worry. I'm not trying to be mean I'm just trying to stand up for most kids today have just overlooked. What does it mean to buy truth? Well, what does it mean to buy something? When you buy something you need it or want it. You place value on it, right? How often do we put value on truth? wisdom? instruction? understanding? Those are important things! If God values something, shouldn't we value it also? If we don't, that's a major problem. But seriously we need to value those things. We need to strive to be truthful, heed wisdom, be receptive to instruction, and be understanding.

These two verse present quite a challenge don't you think? I think so. But we're up to it. God wouldn't tell us to do something we would not be able to acheive. So, are you up for the challenge?

Verse of the Day ~ February 23, 2012

First off, I have a small prayer request. Last night we got a call that my Great Grandpa died. He'd been in the hospital for a little over 2 weeks I think. He was doing really bad. They think he had a heart attack and he died right after that. If you wouldn't mind could you just pray for my Great Grandma, my Grandma, and my Grandpa. They all are going to have to adjust to some new things and possibly new living arrangements. Thanks! Now for the verse of the day!

James 2:20,22,24,26 ~ But do you want to know, O foolish man, that faith without works is dead? Do you see that faith was working together with his works, and by works faith was made perfet? You see then that a man is justified by works, and not by faith only. For as the body without that spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.

So, yesterday we talked about the fact that salvation is only obtainable through Christ. That is not something we can earn. It is a gift from God. Today, as you can see in those verses, we learn (although I'm pretty sure most of you already know that;)) that faith is no good unless we have the works to go along with it. It's dead. What would our faith be if we didn't read the Bible? didn't go to church? didn't help minister? didn't pray? All of those things are 'works' and they are all neccessary for us to grow in the Lord. If we didn't do any of those things our faith would be dead. We wouldn't know anything about God. The One who saved us. So, just cause your saved doesn't mean you have a free ride. You have been saved from your sins but that doesn't mean that you can go live how you want. You must have works to support your faith. Does that make sense? Think about it this way: Think about a table. There are two main parts to a table, the top and the legs. Are those parts very useful by themselves? No, not really. They're 'dead'. But, together they make a very useful table. Think about your works as the table legs. Think about your faith as the table top. Separate they're aren't very useful, but together they are very efficient, very effective. Works can't save you but they are required of you.

Verse of the Day ~ February 22, 2012

Ephesians 2:8-9 ~ For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.

It is very important that we understand that our salvation can only be obtained through Christ. No work we could ever do could amount to salvation. How often do we find ourselves trying to do good works to gain merit with God? I'm not saying good works are bad, but we can only be saved through faith. We can only be saved through Christ. It is His gift to us that He died for.
Just some of my thoughts on those verses :)

Don't forget to wear a blue shirt today!!!

Verse of the Day ~ February 21, 2012

Revelation 2:4-5 ~ "Nevertheless I have this against you, that you have left your first love. Remember therefore from where you have fallen; repent and do the first works, or else I will come to you quickly and remove your lampstand from its place - unless you repent."

I don't really need to say much more do I? Who is your first love? God. How do you leave your First Love? By sinning against Him. Anything you do that is considered sin or not pleasing to the Lord means that you value that thing more than you value your First Love. I'd never thought about it that way until now. Just thought I'd share that with you

Friday, February 17, 2012

Well, I haven't been very faithful with my "Verse of the Day" this week... I've been super busy. I mean I've still been doing my devotions. Just because I was busy doesn't mean I haven't been reading my Bible... I still do that everyday but I haven't had time to post on my blog. Lord willing, I should be doing those daily again next week.

I haven't been up to much other than school. Except, of course, music. I can't go very long without playing my piano or my violin. It's actually quite addicting after you play for a while;). I had a really good workout yesterday. Just me, my iPod, my soccer ball, and my backyard. It was a whole lot of fun. I was reminded of my love for soccer. I actually found myself laughing and then figured I better stop before the neighbors start to think I'm weird;). Although, I've been living here for almost 6 years... if they we're gonna think I was weird it would've happened a long time ago;).

I've enjoyed my Friday. Although, I'm starting to get sick... woke up with a sore throat. Maybe I'll wake up tomorrow with no sore throat;). That would be so nice... When I was sick (less than two months ago) I felt like I was going to turn into an orange I drank so much orange juice. Oh well... :) Well, in case you're completely bored to death (which is entirely likely) I thought I might put some pictures I haven't posted yet. Have a great night! :)

Yeah...

I just realized that most of my posts that have no meaning have ... in the title... and a lot  in the posts;) Well, anyways... Last night was pretty awesome. Our youth group had to set up for the banquet we're having tonight... we had a blast. We ate pizza and drank cherry coke and had an amazing devotion (thank you Mr. Kevin!!!). After that MK and I sewed some of the centerpieces for the tables while watching the hilarious skits the boys are doing... it was hilarious. Then we all got to make lasagna... and yes it is still edible. ;) It looked amazing and I'm sure it tastes amazing too;). I'm sure tonight is gonna be tons of fun:). Well, since you're probably bored now... why don't you scroll down? I'm sure it'll make you laugh;).

Verse of the Day ~ February 10, 2012

Proverbs 6:16-24 ~ These six things the LORD hates, Yes, seven are an abomination to Him: A proud look, A lying tongue, Hands that shed innocent blood, A heart that devises wicked plans, Feet that are swift in running to evil, A false witness who speaks lies, And one who sows discord among brethren. My son, keep your fathers command, And do not forsake the law of your mother. Bind them continually upon your heart; Tie them around your neck. When you roam, they will keep you; And when you awake, they will speak with you. For the commandment is a lamp, And that law a light; Reproofs of instruction are the way of life, To keep you from the evil woman, From the flattering tongue of a seductress.

Have you ever commited any one of those seven things? I know I have. The Lord hates those things. Do you know how the Lord defines hatred? The Lord equalizes hatred with murder. So, when we hate it is a sin but God is not sinning by saying He hates those seven things. The Lord also tells us that we are to keep our father's commands and not forsake the law of our mother. If you don't honor your parents and respect them, your life will not be pleasing to the Lord. The Lord gave you those parents for a reason. Your parents want to guide you through life as much as they can. And no, they're not being controlling. Contrary to popular belief, they only want the best for you. They've been your age before. They've dealt with stuff you are and will be dealing with. They've learned lessons sometimes the hard way. All they want to do is keep you from that. Does that description remind you of Someone else? It should remind you of God. He has experienced all those things. He already knows everything. All He wants to do is guide you through your life, helping you along the way. He doesn't want to see you get hurt. But, if you're not willing to give to your life to Him you will get hurt. You can't have your way and God's way. Why? Because we are human. We are sinners. Since we are sinners, we are apart from God. Our ways are not His ways by nature. That's why we have to constantly seek God and His wisdom so that we might honor Him. If you think that you can have the world and Jesus you're wrong. We are in the world but we don't have to be of the world. Next time your parents give you guidance or instruction, don't turn your nose up at them or smart off. They only want to help you. We need to be open and receptive to your parents teaching. Don't harden towards them. If you harden your heart towards your parents, chances are, you're probably going to harden your heart to God also. Don't harden your heart. In reality, you only hurt yourself when you do that. So, in your own strenght you won't be open and receptive cause that requires overcoming the temptation of ignoring your parents and smarting off to them. You can't do that. We can't overcome any temptation unless we have God's help. And what's my favorite verse???;) Yep. Matthew 19:26 says, "And Jesus looked at them and said, 'With man this is impossible, But with God all things are possible.'"

Seriously?

I have failed to understand why people feel the need to cuss. I'm not trying to come across like some little five-year-old who goes around telling people they said a bad word... I just don't see the point. I mean you get at something or somebody so saying a stronger word will make you feel better? That makes absolutely no sense... But you know what? You don't have to be a certain age to cuss... you don't have to be a certain age to grow up either. And if you wanted to act immature, what about courtesy for those around you? Believe it or not, there are a lot of parents who don't want their kids to hear that kind of language. Also, I HATE hearing people talk like that and so do a lot of other people. So, I'm not really sure if I've failed to understand it or if there's nothing to understand... just my thoughts on the subject.

Verse of the Day ~ February 9, 2012

Psalm 56:3-4 ~ Whenever I am afraid, I will trust in You. In God (I will praise His word), In God I have put my trust; I will not fear. What can flesh do to me?

How many times do you get afraid? In youth group, we're talking about fear. There are two kinds of fear: (1)healthy and (2)harmful. I think you can through your fears and find that most of them are probably harmful. Why? Because you need to trust God. I'm not saying that all of your fears aren't legitimate. Some fears can be very helpful and even save your life. But we don't need to be so afraid that we lose that trust in God to protect us. In youth group, I got a handout for us to write down why don't need to fear with verses to support each answer. It was really encouraging to me some I'm going to put some of it here so hopefully it will be encouraging to you:)
Fear Not! Why Not?
  1. I will not fear because God is with me. (Gen.26:24; Psalm 23:4; Isaiah 41:10; 43:5; Jer. 46:28; Deut.20:1)
  2. I will not fear because God will fight for me. (Exoduz 14:13-13; Deut. 3:22; 20:3-4; 2 Chron. 20:15,17)
  3. I will not fear because God will not fail me or forsake me. (Deut. 31:6,8; 1 Chron. 28:20)
  4. I will not fear because God is on my side. (Psalm 118:6)
  5. I will not fear because God will help me. (Isaiah 41:13-14)
  6. I will not fear because God has redeemed me. (Isaiah 43:1)
  7. I will not fear because God will deliver me. (Deuteronomy 7:18, 20:1)
  8. I will not fear because I have put my trust in God. (Psalm 56:3,4,11; Psalm 112:2; Mark 5:36)
  9. I will not fear because I am valuable to God. (Matthew 10:29-31; John 3:16)
  10. I will note fear because God is God. (John 6:20)
Understanding Who God Is Helps Us Not To Fear.
  1. I will not fear because He is my God. (Isaiah 41:10)
  2. I will not fear because He is my shield and reward. (Genesis 15:1)
  3. I will not fear because He is my confidence. (Proverbs 3:25-26)
  4. I will not fear because He is my strength, light, and salvation. (Psalm 27:1)
  5. I will not fear because His is my refuge and help in trouble. (Psalm 46:1-2)
  6. I will not fear because He is my helper. (Hebrews 13:6)
  7. I will not fear because He is my refuge and my fortress. (Psalm 91:2,5)

Verse of the Day ~ February 8, 2012

In Psalm 107, I found a verse that is repeated 4 times in 43 verses. That verse said, "Then they cried out to the LORD in their trouble, And He saved them out of their distress." Why do you think that verse is repeated 4 times? Well, if you read the whole chapter you will quickly find the theme: God's protection and deliverance of His people. At least that's the theme I come up with... But this whole chapter talks about people in their 'distress'. What does distress mean? Distress means to cause misery or suffering to; an affliction; a state of danger or trouble. Does that sound like us? Absolutely. We suffer. We have conflict (affliction). We are sometimes in a state of danger or trouble. See the parallel? We can't avoid distress. Why? Because Adam and Eve sinned. But the blame can't all go on them... we sin too. Sin means separation from God and when there's separation from God, there's distress. I think that Psalm 107 was meant to be an encouragement. It states how bad humans are but it also states that "... He saved them out of their distress." We are human sinners and we have to go through distress, but we can be saved from that. How? Calling on the Lord. This doesn't mean you're never going to have trouble because you will. But it's much easier to go through 'distress' with God on your side than alone. We can't go through those things on our own because we're not strong enough. We are nothing without Christ. But what does my favorite verse say? You should know it by now;) Matthew 19:26 ~ And Jesus looked at them and said, "With man this is impossible, But with God all things are possible."

Verse of the Day ~ February 7, 2012

Hebrews 12:5-11 ~ And have you forgotten the exortation that addresses you as sons? "My son, do not regard lightly the discipline of the Lord, nor be weary when reproved by him. For the Lord disciplines the one he loves, and chastises every son whom he receives." It is for discipline that you have to endure. God is treating you as sons. For what son is there whom his father does not discipline? If you are left without discpline, in which all have participated, then you are illegitimate children and not sons. Besides this, we have had earthly fathers who disciplined us and we respected them. Shall we not much more be subject to the Father of spirits and live? For they disciplined us for a short time as it seemed best to them, but he disciplines us for our good, that we may share his holiness. For the moment all discipline seems painful rather than pleasant, but later it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it.

Contrary to popular belief, discipline is a very good thing. No, it's not fun... but it's for our own good. I know I sound like a parent but it really is true. When you did something wrong did your parent(s) spank you? Was it fun? Of course it wasn't! But later you were thankful right? You still love your parents and you probably respect them more. So, what do we do when God "spanks" us? You're probably wondering how in the world I came up with that... just wait... I'm getting there:). Seriously think about it. We are God's children more than we are our earthly parents children. So how does God discipline? Well, I think that the major way He disciplines us is when we do wrong. I mean if you argue with your parents and you stomp away mad are you just gonna get away with that? Probably not. You're probably going to apologize (whether you're forced to or not). What about when you stomp away mad from God? When God throws something your way that you don't like. What do you do? What about when you do something wrong and don't make it right? You're going to be punished. ALL sin has consequences. God doesn't punish us because He gets mad at us. He punishes us because He loves us and He wants to help us do right. So, next time you get in trouble or something doesn't go your way make sure your attitude is right. Because we all know responding correctly is a whole lot easier than apologizing;).

Verse of the Day ~ February 6, 2012

Psalm 138:1-2 ~ I will praise you with my whole heart; Before the gods I will sing praises to You. I will worship toward Your holy temple, And praise Your name For Your lovingkindness and Your truth; For You have magnified You word above all Your name.

Do you praise God? I'm not talking about church... although that it very important. But do you really praise God? How about when you get a bad grade in school even though you worked really hard? Do you praise God? Hoe about when someone in your family gets sick or even dies? Do you praise God? How about when your favorite sports team loses? Do you praise God? You should. Why? Because He deserves it. Why? Well, we wouldn't even be here if it weren't for God... I mean He kinda created us and the things essential for living. He also died a horrible so that we could have eternal life. He is very much deserving of our praise and much more. He deserves our every thought, action, etc. He deserves our ALL. He already owns us. He could make us do exactly what He wanted us to do but He doesn't. He gave us the choice. Don't waste that opportunity. You have the choice. Think you can't do it? Well, you can't do it. Not in your own strength. But you wanna know what? My favorite verse, Matthew 19:26, says, "And Jesus looked at them and said, 'With man this is impossible, But with God all things are possible.'" He is waiting for you to ask Him to help you. He won't deny your request because He loves you and desires your praise.

Goodnight Everyone...

It's feels really weird going to be this early on a Saturday night... but it's a good thing. Maybe I'll actually get up in enough time to eat breakfast before we leave for church instead of in the car on the way to church... ;). Well, if you saw my twitter updates you're probably wondering what in the world I was talking about. Hopefully all of you will know exactly what pretty soon... oh the suspense. ;) jk. I did write another song and this one actually has words:). I got the sheet music printed up today but that was just the rough draft... I hope to have it completely finished by the end of the week. :) So, no more wondering... that's what it was about:). Hope y'all have a great night and a great Sunday! :)

Verse of the Day ~ February 3, 2012

Colossians 3:13-14 ~ bearing with one another, and forgiving on another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do. But above all theses things put on love, which is the bond of perfection.

So we really have no excuse for holding grudges. We don't have any excuse for complaining about someone or being mad if someone complains about you. Why? Because Christ forgave us. Do you know how nasty He was treated? Even today all of us sin and dishonor God but He still forgives us no matter what. Why? Because He loves us. And love covers all things. "love is the bond of perfection." Does that tell you how important love is? If we want to even begin to be like Christ, we must have love. Love for people and especially love for God. We must love enough to be willing to sacrifice for someone else. It's worth it. How do I know? Because your reward will be in heaven. Wouldn't you want to spend a small amount of time sacrificing and doing something you might not want to do for an eternity with Christ? Compared to what Christ went through, this is not a big task. And it's completely doable. How? Matthew 19:26 says, "And Jesus looked at them and said, 'With man this is impossible, But with God all things are possible.'"

Blogging Tips

Ok so for those of who want a lot of people to read your blog here are some tips... not that I'm in any place to give tips about those things because not a whole lot of people read my blog... oh well. ;)

1.Post on your blog every day. If you don't update your blog regularly people are get tired of checking your blog and there's never anything new.

2.Don't post boring stuff. This is a very broad category... it includes posts with a TON of words. I know my last few posts have been full of words and can get rather boring sometimes... Just keep it exciting:)

3.Post your web address EVERYWHERE! This can come across as being annoying so be a fanatic about it but post it on twitter, facebook, tumblr, youtube, etc. Trust me it pays off.

4.Make sure you take input from your family and friends. If you have good friends (and family;)) then they will tell (if you ask) what they think you should do with your blog. Input from the outside can be very helpful. And DON'T get mad when people correct you. Remember you did ask them for it...

5.Try not to just copy and paste stuff. This can get really, really, annoying. People start to wonder if there's actually a person writing the blog or if it's just a computer.

6.Finally, number 6. DO NOT POST 2 LINE POSTS. So, imagine you're really bored and you see that someone has a new post up. You get all excited and go to their website. Then you realize the post was only 2 lines. You start to realize that you just lost 30 seconds of your life you can never get back. You get depressed and never visit that website again. (Ok so that was a little drastic but you get the point right?)

So, you're probably laughing by now... that was kinda my point. ;) But there are some good tips in there;). Have a great day y'all;)

Verse of the Day ~ February 2, 2012

Hebrews 13:5-6 ~ Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, "I will never leave you not forsake you." So we may boldly say: "The Lord is my helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me?"

Ok. So, we can get two main points from these two verses. In the first verse the main point it to be content. In the second verse the main point is not to fear. Instead of combining the two (which would probably result in confusion)... I'm just going to seperate them.

Verse 1: Are you content? That's kind of a broad question but are you? Or are you constantly wanting more things? Honestly, I'm not very content. I am constantly thinking (or dreaming) about things that I want and not focusing on what's really important. If you stop and think about it, wanting is just a waste of time. I mean all wanting is "wanting" earthly things that will pass away. Sounds like a waste of time doesn't it? Now this doesn't mean that just because you want something that you're an awful person. We have to put things in perspective. Whenever you catch yourself thinking about something you want, stop and think about what's more important. Instead of dreaming about something you want, try dreaming about how wonderful heaven will be.

Verse 2: Are you afraid of anything? I'm being completely honest when I tell you that I am absolutely terrified of spiders. Like seriously. Even if I see one on tv I cringe... I couldn't even download the Mentos app because it freaked me out. But is that a good type of fear? Well, probably not to that extreme but a fear of spiders could result in saving my life. Because I was scared I didn't touch the spider. If there was no fear I would freely pick the spider up and possibly get bitten. So would say that's a helpful fear? I would because it benefits me more than it harms me. So what's a bad fear? I think a good example of bad fear is found in the Bible (thanks to Mr. Kevin going over this in youth group last night;)). Remember when Peter walked on the water and then started to sink? He became very afraid. Why? Because He wasn't trusting in Christ anymore. He lost faith. This is definitely a bad kind of fear. In Matthew 14:31 Jesus responds to Peter by saying, "O you of little faith, why did you doubt?" Do you see a parallel here? We should have a healthy fear of certain things because they can protect us from harm but we also have to be careful and stay away from that bad kind of fear. We need to constantly be trusting God to protect us because He will.

I hope all that made sense and you were encouraged by that:) Have a great day!

Verse of the Day ~ February 1, 2012

Psalm 73:21-24 ~ Thus my heart was grieved, And I was vexed in my mind. I was so foolish and ignorant; I was like a beast before You. Nevertheless I am continually with You; You hold me by my right hand. You will guide me with Your counsel, And afterward receive me to glory.

While reading those verses did you happen to wonder if it was talking about us? Because all those things are (or were) true for us. Our heart was greived; our minds are vexed; we're foolish and ignorant; we were like a beast before God. But you wanna know what? God is still with us. He never left our side. He's even holding our right hand to guide us with His counsel and one day receive us to glory. Isn't that wonderful? We were (and still are) dirty rotten sinners but God is willing to completely forgive us for all of that. Just thought those verses were encouraging:). Have a great day

Verse of the Day ~ January 31, 2012

Romans 14:7-8 ~ For none of us lives to himself, and no one dies to himself. For if we live, we live to the Lord; and if we died, we die to the Lord. Therefore, whether we live or die, we are the Lord's.

Are you living for the Lord? Those verses just said that we are the Lord's... but do we actually live for Him? Are we willing to die for Him? We're already His because He created us. But we have the choice to live for Him or live for ourselves. Living for the Lord comes with amazing benefits but it also comes with trials. Living for yourself bring no lasting benefits and they're are tons of trials. Which one sounds more appealing? The way I described it we would say living for the Lord, but what do we most often choose? Day in and day out we live for ourselves. We want to do stuff that makes us happy. But we can't live like that. Why? Because if we do we are headed down a path of destruction. A path that leads to eternal seperation from God. Does that sound like a fun place? Of course not! But just because this is what we most often choose does not mean that we're doomed to a path of destruction. God has given us the ability to choose. Don't waste it. So, are you living for the Lord?

Verse of the Day ~ January 30, 2012

James 1:2-4 ~ My brethern, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work that you may be perfect, lacking nothing.
How many times do we get discouraged every day? I mean if you think about there is at least one time a day that we aren't happy. Something didn't go our way and we get upset about it. How many times do we say, "I know this didn't go my way but God has a better plan." Unfortunately, not very often. We get so caught up thinking about ourselves. If something doesn't go our way we feel sorry for ourselves. But trials doesn't just include something not going your way... it includes deaths, sickness, and just hard times in general. But no matter what you're circumstance, count it all joy. God has a perfect plan for you and though it may be hard now, your reward is in heaven. Remember: we aren't to live for ourselves; we are here to further the ministry of Christ and glorify Him. We can't glorify God if we get caught up thinking about how bad our life is right now. God will never give you more than you can handle. Ever. So, no matter what you're going through right now count it ALL joy
